For Roisin, working in care has brought a greater sense of confidence in her role and more balance in her day-to-day life.
Since joining Unique Home Care NI, she has found a place where she feels supported in her work and has the time to care for clients properly. Her story gives a clear picture of what people are often looking for when they explore care careers in Northern Ireland. The work is meaningful, the support is there, and the difference you make is something you can see for yourself.
What comes through most clearly in Roisin’s story is the impact the right working environment can have. She speaks about having more time with clients, feeling less under pressure, and being part of a team that looks after staff as well as service users.

Why Roisin would recommend Unique Home Care NI
When asked what she would say to someone thinking about working in care, Roisin’s answer is
“If I was only starting my career as a carer I would definitely choose Unique they go above and beyond for not just their service users but for each member of staff that work for them.”
That sense of being supported matters in this industry. It shapes how people feel in their job, how confident they are in their role, and how well they can support the people who rely on them each day. Roisin’s words suggest that, for her, Unique has been the kind of place where that support is felt in practice rather than promised in theory.
A moment that made her feel proud
One of the moments that has stayed with Roisin most happened when one of her clients was getting ready to meet friends she had not seen in a long time.
Roisin helped her get dressed, do her makeup and get ready for the visit. When her friend saw her, she could not believe how well she looked and commented that she was glowing.
“My client had not seen her friends in a long time so had arranged to meet up. I had got her dressed, makeup on and her done she looked amazing when her friend seen her, they could not believe how well she looked and commented that she was glowing. That was a very proud moment for myself and my client”
It was a proud moment not only because of the reaction, but because it showed the difference thoughtful care can make to someone’s confidence.

How Unique has supported her
Roisin also speaks positively about how working at Unique has affected her own confidence and wellbeing.
“Working for Unique has supported my growth, confidence and wellbeing in all areas of my career. I am no longer rushed off my feet and now I have time for my own family aswell ”
That feeling of having more balance has been an important part of her experience. Alongside growing in her role, she feels she now has more space for family life too.
The importance of time in homecare
One of the clearest themes in Roisin’s story is the importance of having enough time with clients.
She says that people often assume carers do not have enough time, but that has not been her experience at Unique.
“People have the misconception that you don’t have enough time for them but with Unique you have that time and some ”
That time helps carers build relationships, offer more personalised support and help people feel comfortable in their own homes. It is also part of what makes good homecare feel more personal and less rushed.
