Operations Co-ordinator
Wendy has worked in community care for most of her career and has been part of Unique Home Care NI for nearly six years. As part of the operations team, she helps with rotas, annual leave and the organisation that keeps care running smoothly, while also spending time out in the community through the responder rota. That balance gives Wendy a strong understanding of both the planning behind care and the reality of supporting people in their own homes.
After many years in the sector, Wendy was drawn to Unique because the values matched what she believed good care should be. She values having the time to support people properly, the teamwork across the organisation, and the way staff and seniors work together as one team. For Wendy, Unique is not a “one size fits all” service. It is about recognising what each person needs, whether that is hands-on support, reassurance, or simply time for a cup of tea and a chat.
One of the things Wendy appreciates most is the support around her. She knows care can be demanding, but she also knows the team is there when people need help. Her advice to anyone thinking about joining Unique is, “don’t overthink it, just go for it.” For Wendy, her only regret is that she did not join sooner!
